  1. Kody Cook

Two Puggles is an adorable switched-at-birth story about acceptance and family. Spike and Ducky are hatched and raised as sibling platypuses, but Spike is covered in spines, and he’s not as good at swimming as his mother and sister. When Spike meets an echidna who looks just like Ducky, the truth behind his differences becomes apparent.

Michelle Guzel’s heart-warming story teaches lessons about tolerance and acceptance, and also about how families can be chosen. Even before they find out why he’s spiky and likes to eat ants instead of yabbies, the platypuses accept Spike as part of their family wholeheartedly, and they never look down on him for his differences.

Andrew Plant really brings this story to life with his stunning illustrations. He creates incredibly detailed images of Australian creatures which are simultaneously lifelike and adorably expressive.

To top it off this book is filled with puggle facts, which makes it the perfect blend of fun and educating.

Such a clever and thoughtful story.
Highlighting two incredible Australian animals with an educational theme of platypus and echidna’s as well as a story of love and acceptance in blended families.
Friendship and acceptance for being different.
